Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Washington electricians must renew their certifications every three years by their birthdate. To do so, the state licensing board established a 24-hour CE requirement.

The CE needs to include:

  • Eight hours on the currently adopted National Electrical Code (NEC) changes
  • Four hours on the latest Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 19.28 and related Washington Administrative Codes (WAC)
  • 12 industry-related professional development hours

The Washington Department of Labor & Industries, Electrical Division (Department) only accepts CE credit from approved education providers like JADE Learning.
