Texas alarm technicians, locksmiths, installers, and salespersons are required to undergo continuing education on a regular basis in order to renew their licenses. How to Renew Your Alarm License in Texas

Alarm system professionals in the state of Texas must complete the following requirements in order to renew their license:

  • Alarm technicians must complete 8 hours of continuing education every year with 7 of those relating to their type of registration held and 1 covering ethics.
  • Locksmiths must complete 16 hours every 2 years.
  • Installers and salespersons must complete 16 hours during their first year with 2 of those hours covering the NEC. Subsequent years require 8 hours of continuing education with 1 hour dedicated to the NEC.
