In Michigan, CE is only required if the state adopts a new edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC). When this occurs, licensees have 12 months to complete NEC-related CE.

Whether CE is needed or not, Journeyman and Master electrician licenses expire on December 31 each year and can be renewed within 60 days. A sign specialist license expires on December 31 every three years.

The process starts with a Citizen Access account. Once your CE hours are submitted to the state, log in to your existing account or create one if it's your first renewal.
Once logged in, select your linked license and follow these steps:

Renewal fees are payable using an electronic check or a credit card.
LARA gives journeymen and master electricians until March 1 to renew their expired licenses. After that grace period ends, any existing licenses become void. Applicants must then reapply for a new certification and retake the exam.
Michigan does not have formal reciprocity agreements with any other state. Licensed electricians from other states must apply for a MI license and pass the exam. Use the Out of State License Verification form to receive credit for previous work experience.
