Continuing Education Requirements

California electrician certifications last for three years. If you meet all requirements, you may renew as early as one year before yours expires.

Licensing renewal requirements include:

  • Completing 2,000 industry-related work hours
  • Taking 32 hours of continuing education relevant to the certification category

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) only accepts CEU credits from approved education providers like JADE Learning. We also maintain an Educational Services Agreement with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) as required by CCR Title 8 Regulations 290.1.
