Wisconsin electrical licenses expire every 4 years on June 30th for Journeyman Electricians, Master Electrician, Certified Electrical Inspectors and UDC Electrical Inspectors. My husband’s an electrical contractor and his license has recently expired. I think it would be wise for him to complete his continuing education to extend his license. Since you mentioned that he would have to complete his license renewal application by training first, I think it would be best if he enrolls in a course before he attempts to renew his license.
Definitely check with the state licensing board – but generally, yes, he will still need to complete his continuing education and then be able to renew his license, usually with a late fee added to the renewal fee.

Generally, that is not the case. I am not positive about the requirement for Wisconsin, but you can check with them to see if they do have a retired or inactive type of status that does not require continuing education.
