3 Steps to Renew My Wisconsin Electrical License

Step 1 – When Does My Wisconsin Electrical License Expire: 

Wisconsin electrical licenses expire every 4 years on June 30th for Journeyman Electricians, Master Electrician, Certified Electrical Inspectors and UDC Electrical Inspectors.  If you hold one of these Wisconsin electrical licenses it will expire on June 30, 2020. You will need to renew your Wisconsin electrical license before it expires.

Step 2 – Complete My Electrical Continuing Education:

In order to renew your Wisconsin electrical license you must complete 24 hours of continuing education courses before the June 30th expiration date.  You can complete your Wisconsin electrical continuing education courses within 1 year of your application for renewal.   1. My husband’s an electrical contractor and his license has recently expired. I think it would be wise for him to complete his continuing education to extend his license. Since you mentioned that he would have to complete his license renewal application by training first, I think it would be best if he enrolls in a course before he attempts to renew his license.

    1. Definitely check with the state licensing board – but generally, yes, he will still need to complete his continuing education and then be able to renew his license, usually with a late fee added to the renewal fee.

  2. Where do I get a renew electrical application in Wisconsin and what is the address to send application and check ?

  3. Is there an age where I no longer need to acquire CEUs for my Master Electrician Certification?

    1. Generally, that is not the case. I am not positive about the requirement for Wisconsin, but you can check with them to see if they do have a retired or inactive type of status that does not require continuing education.
