How Do I Renew My Washington Electrical License?
By: Ashley Berfield | Nov 15, 2019
Step 1 – Find My Washington Electrical License Expiration Date:
To begin renewing your Washington electrical license, you’ll need your electrical license number and issue date. If you cannot find your electrical license, you can look it up on the
Washington State Department of Labor Industries website. You can search by using just your name or your Washington electrical license number if you remember it! Once you’ve located your electrical license information you will be able to figure out your expiration date. In Washington your electrical license will expire every 3 years after the issue date. For example, if your license was issued on May 30, 2019, it will expire on May 30, 2022.
Step 2 – Complete My Electrical Continuing Education:
Now that you have your license expiration date on hand, the next step is to complete your electrical continuing education. Washington Electricians are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every 3 years. 8 hours are required on Code, 4 hours are required on RCW/WAC.
JADE Learning’s online electrical continuing education courses enable you to meet those requirements online at any time! JADE Learning is a trusted provider approved by Washington Department of Labor & Industries. Once your courses are completed and paid, you’ll receive your completion certificates in PDF format in a confirmation email. JADE Learning electronically reports your hours the next business day to the Washington electrical board and we’re happy to rush report if needed!
Step 3 – Renew My Washington Electrical License:
Lastly, you will want to complete your license renewal
application and pay your electrical license renewal fee with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. You can
renew your Washington electrical license up to 90 days before your certification expires. Even if you are still working on your JADE Learning continuing education courses, you are able to submit your Washington license renewal application. You can check the status of your continuing education on the
Labor & Industries website. Be sure to start your electrical continuing education hours and submit your renewal application early to avoid any fees or an inactive license status. It is important to remember that you cannot work with an inactive Washington electrical license.
