Each public water system in Hawaii, except for transient, non-community public water systems, shall be under the responsible charge of an operator(s) holding a valid certification equal to or greater than the classification of the water treatment plant (WTP) or distribution system (DS). How to Renew Your Hawaii Drinking Water Operator License
Hawaii Drinking Water Operators are required to complete 0.8 - 1.6 continuing education units (8-16 hours) for renewal every two years, depending on license type.
- License Expiration Date: November 30th (Odd-numbered years for last names that start with A-K; even-numbered years for last names that start with L-Z)
- Grade 1 or 2 = 0.8 CEUs (8 hours)
- Grade 3 or 4 = 1.6 CEUs (16 hours)
