How do I renew my license? Step 1. Complete your professional development hours. Step 2. Renew your license online at: NC Board Website
What if I don't renew my license? "A licensee may bring an inactive license to active status by obtaining all delinquent PDH units. However, if the total number required to become current exceeds 30, then 30 shall be the maximum number required. Reinstatement of a license that was not renewed within 12 months after expiration (archived license), in addition to a new application, requires obtaining all delinquent PDH units as required to reinstate an inactive license."
Why should I renew my license? "Any person who shall practice, or offer to practice, engineering or land surveying in this State without first being licensed in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter... or any person who shall attempt to use an expired or revoked or nonexistent certificate of licensure, or who shall practice or offer to practice when not qualified, or any person who falsely claims that the person is registered under this Chapter, or any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Chapter, in addition to injunctive procedures set out hereinbefore, shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor."
What happens if I'm late to renew my license? "License renewal is required each year. Licensure expires at the end of each year, and is normally renewed upon request of the applicant, payment of the annual renewal fee, and evidence of satisfactory completion of continuing professional competency requirements."
